Lyrics

Golden Prairie Daydream
Blue eyes, rolling fields of wild, yellow hair
she was a child
"Hold your horses steady," Daddy said,
"the young one is shy, and the old one has seen her share
of the cowboys that come around here"

Turnt that filly Westbound
Rode out on the wind to catch the sunset fill the sky
Got leaving on her mind
"Hold on to your horses," Momma said,
"Freedom don't come easy in this world,
and it's a hard going for a runaway girl"

When the cowboys come through town it's a wild, wild country
and nobody shoots them down
All them good folk tip their hats and look away

Saved the tears until Sunday
Held on to that Holy Water, and let it rain
Freedom falling down her face
"All ye wild horses," Reverend says,
"trust ye will not stumble down this road
it's a long way but you won't run alone"

When the cowboys come through town it's a wild, wild country
and nobody shoots them down
All them good folk tip their hats and look away
Momma says if you don't face the man
He'll never change
